ths is a hard one since it's been a very hard year for the Washington. But I believe Washington are simply trying a new system that might be a good one when playoff in here. So washington might go all the way since they have less pressure to win it this year. I guess will see sooner or later.
The Washington Capitals win the SE division for the FOURTH straight season. They will face the NY Rangers in the first round. To me this looks like the caps will win in 6 games, but the Rangers have been playing well lately, so who knows?
Brooks Laich resigned with the Capitals for 6 years, averaging 4.5M a season. I think that's a bit much for Laich. I expected him to be in the 3.7M-4M range.
Stamkos signs with the Lightning for $37.5M over 5 years, a cap hit of $7.5M.
This leaves the Lightning with about $7.8M under the cap. They only need to sign one more forward to fill out there roster (though more signings would be necessary to improve their playoff chances).
I guess the dream is dead. Stamkos stays in Tampa instead of hometown Toronto. Oh well, this deal locks him up to UFA status. That's when Toronto strikes.
