Shanahan was the perfect guy for the job and he's doing excellent so far. Hopefully these calls will continue to be made throughout the entire season and we don't see any bullshit favoritism that we saw when it came to Campbell making suspensions that could directly help the Bruins last season.

Wisniewski was given 8 regular season games and forfeits over $500K for his hit on Clutterbuck after the end of a preseason game - http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=590022

Shelley was given 5 games for his hit from behind on a Maple Laugh - http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=124282

Letourneau-Leblond of Calgary got a game for a hit from behind - http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=124228

Boyes got 2 games for a hit to the head on another Maple Laugh - http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=124715

Staubitz got 3 games for a hit from behind - http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=60&id=124860

I like what Shanny is doing, and I agree that he's the perfect guy for the job. Nobody can hide behind calling him soft, or saying he doesn't know the game. He has the credibility required to be in his position, and so far it looks like he's making the point that hits from behind/to the head are NOT acceptable.

I only watched the wisnewskie hit, and I think that was justified, looked to the head. Didn't know it was after the game

The Wis hit was right after the buzzer, Clutterbuck pulls up and starts gliding and Wis jumps right into him with his shoulder.

JF Jacques was given 5 games for instigating a fight after coming off the bench and going straight at another player without taking part in the play.

Announcers at the Leafs/Sens game are saying Neil might get suspended for his hit on Grabbo. I think maybe a game or two out of it, only because Neil did a damn good job at making it look like he was just gliding and not looking. But a hit to the head is a hit to the head, intentional or not, you should be aware of yourself and others on the ice

Lucic and Gionta both escape suspension from Shanny during the season, despite both giving a head shot that caused a concussion to divisional rivals starting goalies. Rediculous

I'm tired of people complaining about inconsistency. Not on this board, but on the others.

In order for there to be a suspension, the hit must first be illegal. Lucic's hit on Miller, though it caused a concussion, was not illegal. He was out of the crease, and it was not a hit to the head. Tootoo ran Miller over in the crease, so he gets two games.

Agreed, the injury should not determine the penalty. Clean hits (causing concussions or not)should not be penalized.
