Hard to see how anyone wouldn't vote Bruins here

yeah, I'm sure there are some habs fans but I think it's pretty clear that the bruins have the best shot at the cup.

Its the Bruins. After picking up Kaberle, picking anyone else is just a product of pure bias.

Leafs for sure Wink, just thought I'd mix it up since you guys are so sure no one can go against the Bruins

this is the pure ridicule to even think Toronto or Habs might be better then the bruins since I feel Bruins have al the piece to wint he cup.
They have a pure enforcer that can score (Lucic) then you have 2 incredible D in Kaberle and Chara, then the playmaker in Bergeron, character player in recchi then two amazing goaltender and don't forget the emergence of David Krejci. Then Seguin might get the chance to shine in the playoff. What else can I say!!! Bruins vs Washington for the East and West will be Detroit vs Vancouver.

The wild card of the playoff are Chicago and San Jose since there hot and for the west are the habs,T.B. and Flyers. Yep I said the habs since I believe a goaltender can make a difference.

Toronto had a very impressive record against Boston this season going 4-2 I believe

The Boston Bruins win the NE division, and heads into the playoffs as the 3rd seed. They will have home ice advantage, against the Montreal Canadiens. Looks like it has the makings to be a great series.

Hours after hiring Rick Dudley to their front office, the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded their 2012 2nd round pick to the Colorado Avalanche for John-Michael Liles. Interesting move for the Avs, as Colorado surely needs Liles on the ice and on the books (4.2M cap hit). Hovering around the cap floor, there is only one reason they would make this trade: they are going to be active in free agency.

Toronto still has the cap space necessary to sign Brad Richards, assuming his cap hit is around 7M.

You're really banking on Richards eh? I don't think Toronto will get the center they need to be a contender, and if they do, it won't be Richards, it will be someone like Laich, who quite honestly, shouldn't be #1

As I've said, if they can't sign Richards... they'll be scratching a clawing after that 8th spot. And that's only if Reimer can repeat his play after everybody has had a summer to scout his game tapes.

Burke might go after an RFA (via trade not offer sheet), or if it's an offer sheet he'll let the GM know before he does it. But that's only if they can't land Richards. Looks like it'll be a bidding war between Toronto and NYR. Some people have mentioned Philly after their moves, but they don't have the cap space to sign him and re-sign their RFAs.

The thing about Richards is now that the cap floor is at 48 million, a lot of teams could be in the hunt. Colorado, Philly, New York, Toronto, Florida. Basically any one who is going to have trouble hitting that cap floor could throw their hat in the ring. I hope the NHL soon realizes that now they are making teams spend money they don't have. Teams like Florida don't want to spend 48 million because they won't bring that back in, but they HAVE to. That's whywe saw brian Campbell get dealt to Florida. Just watch, guys like Redden can now be moved.

Richards has already said that he is going to a playoff contender, so I think that takes Florida out of the equation. Colorado already has a ton of centers, and as I mentioned... Philly doesn't have the cap space.

Toronto or New York are the ones that need centers. Richards to New York instantly makes them better, as they are already a bubble playoff team, they will make it for sure. Toronto, it all really hinges on how well he does, and what happens if Toronto doesn't make it with him (I'm pretty sure they will), He'd probably want out pretty quickly. But both cities are hockey cities, so it's not like he'll be out of the limelight if things go badly

I think the Leafs' season is hinging on their goaltending, more than anything. Yes, Richards instantly makes us better. And Yes, as a fan I would assume that they would be considered a playoff team with him in the lineup. BUT the realist in me knows that it's not 100% that we even sign him, and if we do... we still have our hopes resting on the shoulders of two goalies who have a combined 103 NHL starts. That leaves a lot of question marks, and sophomores generally do badly because teams have had a chance to do some scouting.

I'm hoping we can sign Richards, and Reimer can play well, but the playoffs are never guaranteed.

If the Leafs can't get Richards signed, I wouldn't be upset if they gave Drury a shot at playing on the first line. Obviously, it depends on the contract, but I'd sign him to a 1 yr deal worth 3M + bonuses.

All bonuses count against the cap this season. if Brayden Schenn makes the Flyers team out of camp, it's 3.12 million or something like that.

that's ok, he'll still be cheaper than Richards, if we can't get him. He might even sign for less than 3M since he's still getting that 6M a season from the Rangers.

I haven't heard that anywhere. What would prevent him from being bought out? His injury from last season?

If he's still hurt.

On another note, Leafs locked up MacArthur before arbitration deadline, same with Bozak.

Macarthur will make 3.25/y on a two year deal, and Bozak will make 0.975/y on a two year deal. I like these signings, if MacArthur was just a flash in the pan, he's not locked up long term, gives him enough time to prove he was the real deal.

They also signed Connolly to play with Kessel. And the nice trade to steal Franson from Nashville. Also rumours of Komisarek on the move to a team in need of salary.
